The idea of Eyes of a Dog came from my husband.  In 2008, he was asked to help set up a charity event to help a local rescue stay afloat.   He managed to get together several local bands and helped set up an all day event that raised money for animal rescue called Rock the Dog. (it was a rock concert that helped raise money to save animals).

He wanted to do more though, so he created a website called Eyes of a Dog and it's basically just the site you see before you now, except I've updated it since then.  It's always been 100% free to use both for people looking for a pet, as well as shelters wanting to be added to the listings.   He took care of all the hosting fees, promotion, advertising and everything else related to the site out of pocket.   It was never meant to be a business.

Several years ago though, he got hurt badly and is now crippled up for the most part and can't do the things he once did.  The site sat expired and dormant for a few years and I recently asked him if I could try to help rebuild it and get it going again so we could help save more animals.   With his blessing,  that's what I've done.

To ensure that Eyes of a Dog never falls to the wayside again,  I've set up a cash app for donations for anyone who would like to chip in a dollar or two to put towards the hosting and other fees and expenses that are accumulated with running a site of this nature.  The Cash App ID is:  $eyesofadog.

We have recently just added a new feature called recommended veterinary clinics and animal hospitals to each of the state pages.

Not only will it help the new adoptions find clinics in their area,  with the very small advertising fee we charge to put their vets out there in front of new customers,  it helps us raise the much needed income to promote the new adoptathons and promote eyes of a dog so we can help save even more animals than before.   It's a win/win for everyone involved.

The main goal is to help save as many animals as possible.   As our facebook numbers grow  back,   I would love to work with rescues out there who may be interested in doing a Facebook live session where they can show their animals they have for adoption to our viewers and hopefully we can help empty a few shelters by finding them loving homes.

There will be absolutely no charge for this.

The best way to help us help animals is by sharing our content.  The more people we reach and the more who follow our social media links,  the more animals we can save.
